About Tusnad Cycling Team

No.1 cycling team in Romania
The story of our cycling club started six years ago. Back then we were a small and modest team, but we had a dream and the conviction that this dream must be followed with ambition and determination. Today Tusnad Cycling Team is a continental team, with remarkable results, with valuable cyclists from all around the world, which prove their excellence in national and international competitions.

The club was founded in 2004 and 3 years later , when Apemin Tusnad SA has become the main sponsor of the team, they have taken the name Tusnad Cycling Team.

In 2007 our club has functioned without foreign cyclers and on a small budget. But still it was a good year for the team. We have trained in Croatia and took part in the Romanian Tour, at the P. Nivo GP in Hungary, at the Tour of Szeklerland and many other small races in Serbia, Croatia and Romania.

In 2008 our club had a bigger budget and we managed to legitimate two cyclers from Slovenia.  We have added races in France, Greece and Montenegro to our competition list.  The team managed to obtain better and better results nationally but across borders as well. At the Beijing Paralympics in 2008 Eduard Carol Novak had won a silver medal, subscribing himself into the Romanian sport history, as being the first Romanian who won a medal at Paralympic Games. His extraordinary result was also appreciated by the Romanian President, who decorated him with the Sports Merit Order.

In 2009 our team was made up by ten sportsmen in the elite category, five disabled cyclers and eight cyclers in the junior category. The gold and silver medal won by Eduard Novak at the Para-Cycling World Championships in Bogogno and the two other silver medals won at the Para-Cycling World Championships in Manchester, but also the first place at the Tour of Szeklerland are the best results of 2009.

This year we are going to have a whole section dedicated to special need cyclers. Among the foreign cyclers who joined us this year there is the Czech Jiri Jezek, multiple paralympic champion.

We hope to have part in many successes in 2010. We will continue our quest so as through our example given to the young generations to contribute to setting the basis of a more active society.
